So my motherboard's ethernet port doesn't seem to be working. I used my PC all day without an issue and then left it on while I was doing other things and when I came back to it I no longer had internet connection and device manager shows my device with a yellow exclamation mark and it says: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". I tried reinstalling drivers but it told me windows couldn't turn on the device and it doesn't show up in adapter settings. I don't think I downloaded anything in the hours before this happened. My brother board is the Gigabyte GA-H170-Gaming 3. I built my PC back in 2016 so it's a little bit old but I hope my Ethernet port's just not dead, as its not lighting up like it usually does. I also don't have a wireless adapter so I'm stuck without connection for now.

Solution
Before you buy a new ethernet card try to boot a usb linux image. If it still does not work then it is not likely a software issue. I guess the good news is if you have a free pcie slot eternet cards are fairly cheap.
