Hey guys, I just installed a new win7 pro on my desktop.

It could connect via ethernet for a few hours but after I installed several updates it suddenly could not connect anymore. I even tried restoring the system to before the updates were installed but nothing worked. I also have tried downloading the network adapter/driver for the motherboard and installed it but it keeps saying network cable unplugged. I tried searching the internet for a solution for one whole day already and I still can't find a solution to this!

I have yet to because I don't have a spare piece at the moment. I am getting it first hand tomorrow though but I don't think that is the problem because it was working fine before the updates took place. Right after it finished installing I couldn't access the internet anymore.

If nothing apparent has changed apart from the update, then it's best to rule out a faulty cable first. Do you have another PC or laptop device to test with that cable?

If it is connected directly to the system via to a router....try connecting it into a different free port on the router.

If it is into a wall point...then the wall point module could be at fault.

Have you completely removed the network card driver altogether i.e. uninstalled it from device manager, and attempted to reinstall it? If there is no response when you connect the Ethernet cable to the port, then it is either down to the source connection (router/switch/wall point) a cable fault, or drivers for the NIC (Network Interface Card)

I hope it's just the cable because I just have to replace it. Otherwise I don't know what else to do. I've tried virtually everything.

Also, unfortunately I don't have a laptop or another pc to try it on.

I will keep this area updated after I get the cable. Thanks for your replies!
