Hey guys
So I am going to redo a whole building's network cables (the planning at least) and I am just curious is 2m distance enough for a network cable to be able to have no interference? The IT guy will probably tell me yeah but I would like some second opinions as I want a no interference network environment for this office.
Which is why I am even getting rid of Cat 5e and going for Cat6. ( Some say it's overkill but who knows these days, transferring some folders might be necessary and you don't want to wait hours for it to happen).
So my question is say there is a fluorescent tube in the middle of a room and I take the cable L shaped along the corners of the wall ect. will that prevent interference? I really don't like the current setup you had teenagers who worked at an IT place and now you have cables hanging outside and some of those cables are indoor cables.
So the workmanship was terrible, therefor serious change is needed.
Another question along with this is will a PC server suffice for just doing daily backups or will I need a rack mount etc?
I think the rack is overkill and I will just need a 24 port gigabit switch as well as a 16 port gigabit switch for the system.
Would you say a rack system will be cheaper than a closed (loose, not too organised system)
By Organised I mean that the other rack switches have all these safety controls and warning features to inform you exactly which line is faulty ect.
But with those gimmicks comes a heftier price.
I'm here to get a second opinion since budget is kind of tight I don't want too much will need about 500m of cabling possibly more but I am going to say 500m for the time being.
Also to future proof would you guys say planning ahead for a wifi booster in the building to assist areas too far away from the modem will be a wise decision?
Look forward to hearing from you
