Network cards 100 MB vrs 1 G

If I install the new 1 Gig network cards on my 3 computer small home
network, will I see a noticable increase in file tranfer rate between the
pcs?
I often move large files from one to the other.

Thanks

No, you will not unless you also install a 1 G switch/hub/router.

If all your computers including the SWITCH (if that is how you have them
connected to each other?) are all 1 gig, sure! It should be a lot faster! I
don't know if it will be exactly 10 times faster, but should be pretty close
to it.

Depends on how large the files are. It will be faster, but not 10x faster.

Also, make sure everything is gigabit. That means the switch that is
connecting the machines will have to be gigabit as well.

I did this and I do see improved speeds.
32 bit PCI cards and windows can not get full GB speeds.
You will see closer to 3x speed increase at a max.
Existing cat-5 cable should work.
If you spend 2 hours installing cards, switches, drivers etc and save 20
seconds 3 times a day on file transfers you will pay back your time in
1/2 a year! I would certainly get native GB motherboards on all future
computers.
