network controller not found

Okay, so I have become the local go to when anyone in my community has computer issues. Someone brought me an HP Pavilion DV6 and a Sony VAIO. Both are or shall shall I say should be running Windows Vista Premium. Long story short... I have taken the hard drive and memory cards out of the Sony and put it in the HP. I have it working except for getting it to connect to a network. Something about network controller... PLEASE HELP ME... HOW DO I FIX THIS????

Do a clean reinstall of windows...download drivers from the manufacturer's web site.
Swapping drives almost NEVER ends well.

I have the same issue....I have an Acer Extensa that had a HDD that went south. I reinstalled same OS on new HD & was able to find all drivers except the Network Controller..... I know it is a Broadcom.... I have visited both the Acer website & the Broadcom website for driver support with no luck....The OS is Vista Home Premium..... If anyone has any suggestions or can point me in a different direction, I would greatly appreciate it....
