[SOLVED] Network Driver

They say if it aint broke dont fix it, but when you have a yellow exclamation mark against the network connection you just have to get rid. Ok, windows 10 pro and its the Intel 82579LM Gigabit network connection. Date 12/06/2018 version 12.17.10.8 The OS was a clean install on a new formatted ssd, if I uninstall it it comes back again, if I up date the driver it says the best driver is loaded for it. If I check the properties I get, this device does not exist, this device cannot start. (Code 10).
If I scan for hardware changes the exclamation mark goes away and it then changes to the Intel 82579V Gigabit Network Connection and stays like that until I reboot and it`s then back to square one. Just to add that when either one is showing I have no problem with the internet or anything else,is there a way to force it to use the "V" version? Cheers for any info.

Is this an add-in card or on the motherboard?

Also, try to boot up a linux live cd and see if it has any issues with the nic.

On the MOBO, it`s an old Asus P8Z68 DELUXE/GEN3, but does all what I need it for.

I would boot up on the linux live cd and see if it has the same problem there. If so, it's most likely a hardware issue.

Thanks once again for taking time out to respond @SamirD. Whilst I have a vague idea what Linux is, I do not have a Linux live cd, is there possibly another work around?

You're welcome. Here's a link to the one I use--just download, write to a cd, boot the cd:

This live cd isn't designed for installation so it won't touch your existing drive at all. You can boot it and see if your ethernet card works. If it does, the hardware isn't broken and it's a windows software issue. If it doesn't work then there's a good chance it's a hardware issue.
