After recently Updating to Windows 10 (fresh install) to clean out my computer , I was unable to connect to the internet via an Ethernet cable, the same Ethernet cable worked on another pc. The problem I'm dealing with is that the Ethernet controller driver is missing from the device manager.

(There is no other device that is not installed properly ,or unknown)
This is my Device Manager

(Just to mention before the clean install the driver was there and the internet was working fine which leads me to believe its not hardware)

After the Install of windows I did a bios update to the latest version (3401) , a Chipset update from the asus website , and then proceeded to try and update my network drivers via both the intel and asus downloads. (with Wireless USB Adapter)

Both times Met with this

I would also like to mention the other methods I've tried to solve this problem:

- Boot into Safe mode with networking to see if the problem persists- It does
- Scan for hardware changes
- Network reset ( in the network settings)
- Troubleshooted both Hardware and devices and Network Adapter In Settings.

Any advice on what I could try to solve this would be great

Solution
Ive seen this problem before. If you have a NIC card you can put into the PC try that and reboot the system and look for it in device manager. There is a driver conflict somewhere, you may have to completely uninstall the drivers on your mobo and reset the CMOS then give it another go. May also want to try to delete all of the NON-WAN adapters in your network adapter tab in device manager. Windows should reinitialize those when it reboots or when you reinstall the drivers.

If none of those work then you may be stuck getting a second nic card to put into your PC temporarily to do windows updates. There may be a few updates for windows that is keeping your PC from getting internet access.
