Hi guys. I have an old harddrive connected to a USB 3.0 Interface which feeds to my router and this drive serves as a network drive for multimedia storage. Problem is, the drive has issue with reading and writing data when I try to Read/Write to it form the mapped connection on my desktop. It also has this issue sometimes on my android device. I have confirmed that the hard drive is fully functional when i connected it to my desktop with its usb 3.0 interface connector and ran a defrag analysis, as well as a scan for errors which both turned out negative. This also proved that the product i'm using to connect sata 3 to USB 3 is working as intended with no isses. Obviously this is my router's issue and i need help. I have an Asus RT-N-56U as my router. How do i proceed?

Thank you.

Sounds to me, your specific beef is with the Asus.

I am not sure there is a whole lot you can do. I mean go into the Asus configuration, how much stuff it let you change in regard to the USB port?

Does the Asus manual specifically warn you not to use portable drives that may go to sleep?

Hmmm. Nothing in the manual has any limits on what kind of drives to use aside from size limitations and fomat limitations. Nothing about sleeping drives.
