I have a brand new Netgear R6100 dual band router as well as a NetGear N600 wirless adaptor. When I connect to the 5G side of things the internet works fine, but I can not see my home network. To include the laptop, set up wirelessly, the other desktop, set up wired to the router, or my wireless printer. If however I connect to the 2.4G side that problem is solved, the network is all there I can print again & the internet still works. That just defeats the purpose of my having bought the new equipment to get the 5G wireless speeds. If I install this same adaptor on my laptop, disabling it's internal wireless 1st, it connects to the network & the 5G with no issues. Which makes Netgear say not our problem. Looking to be able to access the 5G & the network any one have any ideas?

Just to make sure of things I just unsintalled the driver software & the adaptor from the computer. Have reinstalled the latest driver from Netgear's website, and reinstall everything. This time I was careful to make sure I said it was a HOME network. But did not solve the problem.

Solution
First of all, nice work trying it another computer to isolate the issue.

The first time you connected to the 5G network, windows would have popped up and asked you what type of network it is (Home, Office, Public). If you selected Public by accident, it would change the security settings and cause this behavior.

Open your Network and Sharing center, it will tell you what Security profile is assigned to the network. Ideally you want Home profile.
