Question Network Set Up

Hi All,

I run a small business and want to have my main pc (ground floor office) to connect with a business laptop (first floor) on a network. Basically I want to be able to access the files from the main pc on the laptop. Both machines are windows 10. the laptop is HP make.

What would be the easiest way to achieve this?

Assuming you're connected to the same ethernet or Wifi? Should be as simple as to enable sharing of a drive, and enabling the devices to be discoverable on the network.

Depends on the scope of the network infrastructure, of course. If you're using a typical home/small business type setup, it shouldn't require any more than ^ that.

A switch that you can connect both the PC and laptop to is the simplest thing. Getting an ethernet cable between floors is the more difficult problem.

okay great! thanks for both replies.

Both are connected on the same wifi network, I will set up a private network on the main pc and enable devices to be discoverable on the network. Hopefully it is that simple - will update in due course. Thanks.
