Hi,
I have seen a few threads on this topic but none seem to match my requirements as many don't specify the type of usage that the user is looking for.
I have an ADSL Broadband connection that offers about 28Mbps download speed in the house. I run 802.11n wireless through the house and this works fine for my needs. There are around 15 wireless devices in the house currently.
I have a garden shed at the back of the house which is my bike shed. During the winter I set up a Trainer and use it a few times a week. The shed is about 30M away and the Wireless router is towards the front of the house. The shed has electricity supply. I know that currently I don't pick up the WiFi from the house in the shed.
For training sessions I use online tacx videos, which downloads Virtual reality routes as I cycle. These seem to be fairly bandwidth intensive. I also have some Sufferfest training videos stored on my NAS device which I would like to stream to a laptop in the shed. So I am looking for a solution that allows me to connect via WiFi (I have tried powerplug but the connection is poor). Running a CAT5 cable is not an option as the position of the shed may be changing significantly next summer. Whilst training I would also like to be able to stream music to the shed to keep me motivated.
I am particularly interested in point to point options, wondering if these would be my best fit for my requirements. Or if some simpler WiFi extender / repeater is good enough (though worried about bandwidth of this option and the distance). In all I am thinking of spending around £100 max.
I have a few old Wireless Router/Hubs lying about which could form part of the solution. Any suggestions for a high-bandwidth and stable connection gratefully received.
