Networking DNS propebem

Hi

I can browse my windows xp server from any of the network computers using the IP, but I would like to browse the server using the server name "//servername"

I have a router 172.16.1.1

I made the gateways and the Pref DNS 172.16.1.1 on all PC and the server( WIN XP SP2)

Please let me know if I'm doning something wrong.

There is no such thing as windows XP server. are you running a workgroup or a windows server. (such as windows server 2000, 2003, or 2008). are you running windows XP as your mock server? such as just to hold files
