networking problem in workgroup

hi everyone i have a computer lab of 30 computers which are in a workgroup. i want to give limited access to the users. therefore i made a folder in one computer and access the computer from all rest of the computers and made a shortcut in to other computers. i created the shortcut in half of the all computers. rest half computers are not accessing the computer which contains the folder giving message the 123.134.1.876 is not accessible you do not have the permission to access the machine. one or two machine try to access the machine by asking username and password i put the username and password but again i could not get the access.
i request to please give the possible reasons so that i can access the particular machine from rest all the machines

Your probably running into the Max connections allowed. What OS? windows 7 has a maximum of 20 connections.
