I need to boost wifi over a log cabin site that's just under half a mile wide and I've got a central point on the site to put an omni wifi antenna. I'm gonna put an antenna up in the centre and run it to the router. Is this the best way or is there another better way to get the coverage?

WIFI propagation is difficult to predict. Like I said, it is relatively cheap to try one out.
WiFi doesn't work that way. It uses many low power radios to make a mesh over a wide area. One must remember that it is a two way system that is no more powerful than the devices attached to it. Are there any trees in this area? They would greatly limit the range of a central access point.

Kanewolf, what distance would this broadcast? I just need to boost the WiFi signal as all the cabins will receive the signal through mobile phones, laptops, tablets ect.
