Hey everyone,

I am a beginner when it comes to building/upgrading PC's but have decided to upgrade my CPU and Motherboard before starting uni next year.

My build is primarily used for content creation, gaming also but this is secondary.

I have no knowledge or interest in overclocking my PC, so here is what i have decided upon. Advice and thoughts are welcome, also, i have credit with an online store i use here in Australia, therefore my choices are limited to what they have on offer.

Currently have an i5 3570k, Gigabyte z77m-d3h-mvp, Gigabyte 670gtx gpu, 16gb ddr, antec 520 psu.

Upgrading to an i7 4790 and a Gigabyte GA-Z97-D3H Motherboard. That is my budget at $500 plus postage and i also have to get a new copy of windows as the current one i have is OEM. I am considering updating to Windows 8.

Should this be an acceptable upgrade or should i expect some conflict? Any tips?

Thanks

Yeah, i have read that a lot, but i really want to upgrade now while i have the spare cash as it will primarily be used for Graphic Design next year, and from what i understand,an i7 is best for that.
