There's no difference between the two besides about 10 pokemon in each one
that aren't in the other. Go to gamefaqs.com and look for an FAQ that lists
them, but if you've never played before, it won't matter much. They are ones
I personally would use on my teams anyway, although some people may like
them. But there is no other difference, other than the color of the
cartridge.
Btw, I'd recommend maybe playing Ruby/Sapphire as well. There are some
things in those that aren't in FR/LG, such as contests, plus the third
generation of pokemon, only some of which are in FR/LG, I believe.
Anyway, I'm going to get Leaf Green because I'm tired of always choosing red
stuff, and I'm starting with Bulbasaur because I always pick the fire
starter in the other games.
