Not sure if this is the right section but, I recently built a new computer, but it doesn't run games as well as my friend's PC does, even though mine should be better. When playing games like GTA V/Online, heavily modded Fallout 4 or heavily modded Minecraft, he gets significantly higher fps than me, when running higher graphics settings than me.

My Specs:
CPU: i7-7700K @ 4.20GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
MOBO: MSI Gaming M7
RAM: Corsair 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3000 MHz
OS: Windows 10 Home (64-bit)

Friend's Specs:
CPU: i7-4790K @ 4.40GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060
MOBO: Don't know
RAM: 16GB
OS: Windows 10 Home (64-bit)

Do you have any ideas of what I could do to improve its performance.
Thanks in advance!

Have you managed to find an answer to your problem?

My 7700k 1080ti is really underperforming in games too.

Have you done any performancetest benchmarks?

I'm having the same problem as well mate , you're not alone .. but I'm about to send back my rig to my dealer and let them deal with the issues ... fingers crossed and hoping for the best ...

Full Specification of my rig :-

Time Spy Demo Version and my results are as follows :-

Total score = 8615

Graphic Score = 10012
Graphic Test 1 = 64FPS
Graphic Test 2 = 58FPS

Cpu Score = 4813
Cpu Test = 16.17FPS

P.S / Either at default or OC-ed , My CPU's temp is normal between 50-70 'C and never went above 70 so far .. I've already try playing GTA V at 4.2 Ghz , 4.5 Ghz , 4.7 Ghz but still doesn't make much of a different and still having a hard time to achieve a stabil average FPS and won't be able to get that 90-110 FPS (supposely) ...

* The only thing that my dealer said to me was he already unlocked all 8 of my cores (which I don't know what it means and figure it would increase my CPU full potentials) and also enabled the XMP for the RAM . I also downloaded Parkcontrol and Unpark45 , meaning I already unparked my cpu but still doesn't make any differences at all ..
