New 1440p display, issue when using HDMI

I recently picked up a new 1440p monitor, the Acer G257HU.

I have a gaming setup and youtube channel. I use an elgato HD60. It has an HDMI going to the monitor, and another HDMI going to my graphics card, which is a GTX 980ti.

GTX 980ti -> HDMI -> Elgato HD60 -> HDMI -> Display

The issue is that my display is only registering 1920x1080, and 3840x2160. 2560x1440 isn't an option. I can't use display port, because that won't work with the Elgato.

Any ideas how to get my HDMI to display 2560x1440? I'm using the HDMI that came with the monitor, and an older HDMI cable. Perhaps the older cable is the issue?

Solution
take the Elgato HD60 out of the loop to see if can get 2560x1440 using both hdmi cables 1 at the time. if can on both cables then it is the Elgato HD60 causing the problem.
Got it! Found this link:

Followed those steps, and was able to get it working. Woohoo!
