I just got a refurb Monoprice Zero G 27" monitor, and upon plugging it in I was greeted by this: http://imgur.com/a/kaebg

The screen flickers, is pixelated, and shifts colors, usually with a purple tint.

I had used the included DVI Dual cable and clearly something was wrong, so I then tried using my old cable which is HDMI to DVI and it worked, but being DVI single it only supported 1080p resolution. Thinking it must simply be a faulty cable I called up Monoprice and they are going to send me a new DVI cable.

But now I've noticed that the DVI cable that was included actually does work at 1080p, just not at any higher resolution (even 1920x1200). So while I still think the cable is probably the issue, I'm now wondering if it might be my video card (GTX 970) or something to do with Windows or Nvidia driver settings.

Does anyone have any thoughts to offer on whether it may or may not be the cable?

So some more findings that continue to befuddle me. The included DVI cable works fine with my old monitor, although that monitor is 1920x1200. The same DVI cable is now also having the glitching at 1920x1080 and every other resolution on my new monitor.
Honestly. There is no way to tell from just reading the issue, you'll have to troubleshoot.

HDMI, Display Port and DIV for the most part, can support the same bandwidth and resolutions. So if it works on one, it should work with the other. The thing to keep in mind, is that if you are using Gsync, its really only supported with Display Port on most models. (Some with HDMI).

It could be quite a few things. It could be a bad cable or bad port on the video card for the DVI. It could need monitor drivers to support the herts or fresh rates you are trying to use. It could be display drivers from the video card etc....

I'd first make sure your display drivers and monitor drivers are up to date. Then if that fails, try using a replacement cable. (or if you have two monitors try to barrow one off the second monitor to test with) etc...

Until the cable arrives, it's hard to say but with that delay, I would be concerned about your ability to return this monitor within any stipulated time frames. Having read that article several years back, it is not one i would recommend for gaming. Simply put, while the best IPS monitors are better than the best TN monitors, a gaming oriented IPS monitor will cost $700. If you only have $400 to spend on a gaming monitor I would recommend limit the option to TN panels.

For one, the manufacturer advertises a 6.5 ms response time but it is measured at 24.4 in the ISO test... Lag was also measured at 30.7. However it is the poor contrast ratio that i think will be of most concern.

I'm using it now, albeit at 1080p, and so far I've found that it's perfectly fine for gaming. I'm not an eSports competitor after all. Also I got this for $140.
