So, I have 2500$ to spend on a new build. I'm still using my original build from 2012 made with this community's help :) but it is time to upgrade.

The build is mainly to practice with Solidworks, and Autocad, and Fusion. Not for gaming at all, but will love to take advantage of my 4K monitors for media consumption, which is why I am leaning towards Intel 10th Gen CPU.

Really hoped graphics cards would come down in price by now, but meh...

I know that a Quadro card would serve me best, so is it possible to have both a Quadro, and a regular consumer card at the same time for my budget? If not, then, regular card it is, even though we will not game/are not gamers.

What would you guys get in my case?

I waited for Intel 10th Gen, but should I wait a bit more for anything coming in the near future Intel wise?

I was about to hit the Buy Now option for the i9-10900K, and started reading an article about PCIE 4.0, and how well AMD works with it, and how it might be a better option for me since I'm not gaming, and how Intel sucks now because no PCIE 4.0 support on a board that will be obsolete in less than 2 years when 10nm may get released 😭😭😭😭😭

Now, my old Intel gen4 from 2012 lasted me a good 8 years, and still going strong today, but it looks like AMD is more future proof for me right now... don't know what to do
PCIe 4 doesnt have a lot of usage at the moment because even PCIe 3 is not fully utilized yet. Other than a couple of SSDs, theres no other hardware with PCIe4 support yet. Its still years before PCIe4 even...

As for waiting, the next gen. Intel is also based on 14nm node, so a nominal performance increase like the last 5 gen. However the 12th gen. Tiger Lake would be 10nm but that will be like 2022 or so.

Thank you! What do you think about a Titan xP, instead of the Founders Edition? Any advantage for CAD?

Also, that i9 seems massive; I wonder if the future 10nm would make me feel much of a difference...

I read that the 9th gen of Intel was horrible, and overheated easily on desktops. What's to say that the new batches of 10nm won't have faults of their own, until they mature?

Titan XP is previous gen. and obsolete. You get the Titan RTX around same price which is basically a bigger, badder 2080Ti. It can certainly be better for CAD with more of those Tensor cored under the hood, but at double the price of 2080Ti, not sure whether the price/performance difference is justified.

The IHS overhead has been changed this gen. in order to address those previous gen. thermal issues. Having said that, a lot depends on your cooling arrangement and motherboard VRM.

What's your opinion on this limited combo offer? My budget is closer to 3000$ actually, but I wonder what cons can you think of on that i7

"Sorry, the combo deal is no longer available. "

Sorry, it was basically these 3 items for 600$ on a flash sale:

Gigabyte Z490 AORUS ELITE LGA 1200 Intel Z490 ATX Motherboard + Intel Core i7-10700K 8-Core 3.80GHz Processor + 32GB (2x 16GB) OLOy 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600 (PC4 28800) Desktop Memory Bundle

I think I'm going to YOLO this, and go with your picks Hells... however, I may also add a Quadro P2000 to it, and try to do what this guy did to be able to use both a GTX and a Quadro card at the same time using an HDMI switch, and pray to God it works:

GTX Card + Quadro Card at the same time tutorial
This is a very dicey prospect , kind of hit and miss. Make sure you know what you are doing.
