Well these are all the parts I want for my new rig. My existing monitor is an LG W2361V. Plus I have 3 more WD hdds that I will throw in there at some point.
I havent built a rig for myself in @ 7 years.
I will never sli or raid. I will overclock both the cpu and gpu but only moderately for totally stable 24/7 use.
I have three concerns.

Screwing something up that I can't "unscrew" later. (proper initial setup of ssd, trim, win7 )

Testing all the bits as I installl them.

Best use of ssds and hdds. and Most important is best system/method/software for being able to easily and quickly restore the boot drive (or should it be a partition) on the 256 gb ssd.

My thought was to partition the 256 gb ssd and use the 64 gb ssd with the "xdock" to keep pristine backup of boot partiton and stick it in the storm trooper storage drawer and maybe another copy on one of the hdds. The 1TB Velociraptor is for my 600 gb and growing of Steam games.
I have have been through the hell of a format and reinstall of everything many times for myself and others. I know it will happen again. I want to be able to just slam in a disk and or a drive, go have a beer and return to my rig as if nothing had ever happened !
Any thoughts tips or rants apppreciated. : )

What are your intentions for the build? If it's gaming alone, don't waste the money on an i7 with 16gb of RAM. Go to an i5 with 8gb.

For a mild OC, you are wasting your money on an H100 as well. Step down to a Hyper 212 EVO. It's all you need and it's $30.

Try this PSU as well:

More than you need and way cheaper.

It almost seems like you are spending more money than you need just because you set your budget so high, assuming of course, that it's a gaming rig.

Yes its primarily gaming. Secondary use is thousands of family photos to sort, edit, retouch etc.
You are probably right that I am building more than I need .

But I dont care about the $. My current rig is an asus P4C800 E Deluxe mobo with an intel northwood 3.4 ghz cpu o'locked to @3.8 ghz with 3 gigs of ram and an Radeon x1950 pro gpu (AGP :) ) using 7200 rpm wd hdds. At the time everyone said the same thing. "its more than you need" . Well a couple of years passed and it was still enough to play my games and kick nearly everyones **s while a lot of others who bought the "minimum" and then cranked the sh** out of it had to upgrade.

However Im at the point now where I have to play with graphics and goodies at the low settings and it sucks more than I can stand.

Plus I've always found that buying the best stuff available always paid off, whether it was cars , clothes, tools or fishing and hunting stuff.

Besides all of that my birthday is coming up at months end. Im gonna be 60. I just quit smoking. I deserve a treat. I need to continue kicking **s in all the games I play. I love joining a game and hearing comments like "Yeah ! now we can win " or "oh sh** NOW were ****ed " : )

Try something like the Coolermaster TPC-812. Just came out and it's a good air cooler.

If you just don't care about the money, then go with what you want. What you selected will make a great build. I know what it's like coming from a real old computer. My last one was right on par with what you describe and believe me the difference is unbelievable.

For gaming the most important thing is the GPU and you already are getting a GTX670, so you are good to go.

Hey thanks cranked.

Thats a real nice rig you built for yourself. My Biggest concern is EASY and SIMPLE
backup and restore.

That is a nice air cooler. Ive looked at every cooler on the planet I think. I just have come to hate those giant finned monsters that I wouldn't want anyone to hit me with. : )

Their huge bulk parked in the center of EVERYTHING irritates me and make cleaning harder. : )

Fair enough. It's all about what YOU want. Treat yourself to something nice like you said and enjoy your really nice rig.

If you need any additional help just ask.

What games do you play at the moment?

Dude, You shouldn't suggest a cheap low quality PSU because you need it to last for a VERY long time and have a long warranty. The Corsair psu is good enough

What are you talking about cheap low quality PSU?

That PSU I suggested is very nice and it was only to try and save him some money. Cost isn't a high priority for him so sticking with the Corsair is fine like I said. I never said there was anything wrong with that Corsair he picked.
