New 3DMark Bench thread

RussK1

Splendid
The new 3DMark is set to be released later this evening (02/04/2013 @ 6pm).

I'm sure it'll have the same preset settings. ie: Entry, Performance and Extreme.

We're going to use the Performance setting here that way we'll see a far more compatibility across the board for more people and will have controlled results to compare scores to. I believe there will be three benchmarks, "Fire Strike" for the high-end, "Cloud Gate" for the mid-level and "Ice Storm" for the entry-level.

FIRE STRIKE

Fire Strike is our new showcase DirectX 11 benchmark designed for high-performance gaming PCs. It is our most ambitious and technical benchmark ever, featuring real-time graphics rendered with detail and complexity far beyond what is found in other benchmarks and games today. Fire Strike will be available only in the Windows editions of 3DMark initially.

CLOUD GATE

Cloud Gate is a new test that is designed for Windows notebooks and typical home PCs. Cloud Gate includes two graphics tests and a physics test. Cloud Gate uses a DirectX 11 engine limited to Direct3D feature level 10 making it suitable for testing DirectX 10 compatible hardware. Cloud Gate will initially be available only in the Windows editions of 3DMark.

ICE STORM

Use Ice Storm to test the performance of your smartphone, tablet, ultra-portable notebook or entry level PC. Ice Storm includes two graphics tests focusing on GPU performance and a physics test for measuring CPU performance. On Windows, Ice Storm uses a DirectX 11 engine limited to Direct3D feature level 9. On Android and iOS, Ice Storm uses OpenGL ES 2.0. You can compare scores across platforms.

This thread is not for flaming nor is it an AMD vs Intel vs nVidia debate and is strictly for comparisons and fun. Bring the thread off topic and/or disrespect another, despite their standing, you will be reported and the Moderators will be asked to remove you from the discussion.

I too am looking forward to giving this ago after the upgrades to my main rig and I plan on doing a run with both, should be fun....

That is 6pm eastern time, right russ? Ill be able to post my results ~ 6pm PST.

Gentlemen, start your engines!

Edit: Might have to do an ice storm run on my samsung s3 if possible!

**Edit OP to TPU**

Running benches now and Fire Strike is demanding! Post a screenie in a minute.

Not sure but nevertheless would be interesting to find out. I'm stock other than the small bump of 100/200MHZ on the 7950.

In TPU's article they used the GTX 680 but don't mention the CPU used but and I quote:

The physics tests of each of these can benefit from having multiple cores and advanced instruction sets.

Here's another run on the Ivy Bridge/6990 machine (newer processors are going to see a big improvement in the physics department):

The Fire Storm score is low!

Works for me... but prolly a good thing because the Fire Storm score is LLLLOOOOWWW. Embarrasing low... which is probably a CF issue. Downloaded 13.2 Beta 4 and going to retry.

Anyone else having the issue with link not working?

DLing now... should be able to post results in 30-45 minutes or so (DL is slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww)

It's a 1GB file, I can see some having an issue with it.

Sorry mate, you're right it does work I just had to enable Java script. Doh!

Newest drivers?

I like it too. The physics test in Fire Storm is cool - with the insect, stingray thingys. Different...

 It had to be done!

The fire thingy demo was just a slideshow for this rig! Though for a six year old motherboard (that's supposed to be dead) and a 3ghz dual core the graphic tests ran quite well I thought.

That's what it was like for me until the driver change. I was like damn, really?
