The first thing you can try is to go to your MOBO's website and update all the drivers.(especially the SATA ones)
In case the issue persists, you can boot up Ubuntu from a CD or a flash drive, partition and format the drive and see if the drive would be recognized by Windows when it is already partitioned and formatted.
