[SOLVED] New 4k gaming build for gaming with ultra settings

Hi guys. I’m looking for some advice and recommendations. I’m going to attempt my first gaming build and really appreciate all your help. I am interested in primarily gaming in 4k, connected to my TV with some VR gaming thrown in as well. Thank you in advance!

Approximate Purchase Date: asap
Budget Range: £1500

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming and VR

Are you buying a monitor: No
Parts to upgrade: None as new build
Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: preferably Amazon.uk but open to suggestions if lower costing.
Location: England

Parts Preferences: Ideally want the best, I am leaning toward Intel. I would also love a 2080 GPU but if you guys have better suggestions, I would be open to these.
Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: no

Your Monitor Resolution: 4k Samsung TV

Additional Comments: RGB for the case would be good.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: I want to play AAA games in ultra settings .
I posted on this forum last year and wanted to do a build then, but I never got the chance to do it and its always been on my mind. I have never built a PC before so thanks in advance.

That’s a tight budget for what you want. For 4K even a 2080Ti can’t hold a 60fps minimum at ultra settings in most modern AAA games. A 2080Ti is 2/3 of your budget. Ryzen CPU’s offer much better performance for your money and 3700X or evening 3600 at 4K will perform no different than a 9700k/9900k. In VR yes Intel will have an edge but it’s small and you are budget constrained. You probably have some decisions, how important is 4K with ultra or close settings as a 2080 will compromise game settings significantly and how much do you want to go Intel as you are going to need to compromise on expectations vs budget.

Thanks for your help. I would say I'm happy to compromise on both. I guess I could push my budget to £1800 if that makes any difference? I'm happy to look at Ryzen as well, if you think you get more bang for your money. If I'm unable to get ulrta settings then I will be happy to get as close as possible. Thanks again.

This is a starting point. Still needs your choice of case and does not include Windows. You could drop to 16Gb RAM and cheaper storage but I feel this system deserves these parts.

Practical answer is to recommend you to hold down the money for another year while adding more to it as much as you can till you make the purchase and get best high end setup with 2020 released GPU if NVIDIA releases something by the end of next year which can get the performance bumped again by 30-40% over RTX 2080 Ti to get 4K Ultra settings run at 60fps+ for 90%+ of titles.

But to be honest 8K gaming won't be possible for at-least next 4-5Yrs for majority of titles. Yes if you limit your gaming library to games like CSGO that is a different thing.

So iv decided to increase my budget to £2000, are there any components that are worth upgrading from the list above or is the £200/£300 extra not going to deliver much of an improvement ?

Also I know cases are quite subjective to opinion, but are there any cases that you guys would recommend for this build which would be in or around £130 or under ?
