I recently bought a new EVGA 770 GTX 4gb and installed it into my computer and everything has been working fine except for one specific effect in a game. Whenever I see a cluster of this effect in this certain game my computer just does a hardshutoff, almost as if its just cutting the power. My Radeon 6950 HD 2gb had no problem with the effect, so thats why im thinking its the videocard rather than the powersupply or something else.

So far the testing ive done is pushing the card trying to get it to crash like it would in game but everything is completly fine. My card with the furmark benchmark 8x maxed out wont go over 75c, my cpu wont heat over 45c, I have a 755w power supply and the other card seemed to work fine. Ive also installed the latest drivers for the nvidia card, so updated drivers shouldnt be a problem. Running other games like bf4 maxed out havent had any crashing issues either.

So does anyone have an idea? Maybe its a faulty card. I can understand a videocard crashing a game but I dont see why it would be causing the computer to do a hard shutdown.

You're graphics card seems to work fine with other games so it could just be the game having some sort of compatibility issue.

So its possible that my video card just doesnt like that certain effect in the game? It still seems like it would just crash the game then rather than my computer but you're probably right.
