We just replaced our TV with an 8k Samsung and it's attached to a gaming PC with an nvidia 1080ti video card.

The Samsung shows in display settings as "Samsung" and when I use the Windows -> Settings to adjust the resolution it only lists up to 4k (3840x2160) and so I went to nvidia control panel and tried create an custom resolution of 8k (7680x4320) and it failed the test as unsupported.

Any ideas what it woold take to get it working at 8K?

I ahve Samsung 8K QLED and it connected via this HDMI to the PC: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KNR8DP3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Windows 10 Pro 1903

Thanks!

Thanks for video, it's good to know that I am not the only one that had 4k only. The extra box is actually called the Samsung One Connect, it's a small black box that sits on floor (or wherever) and then you supply power, data, audio, etc through it to the TV through one single thin'ish cable. There is no other way to hook up to the TV. The fix they did in the video was to create an Nvida control panel custom resolution and it worked for them, i tried it at 8k 60hz, 8k 30hz, and 8k 29hz all got the same error.

I am not sure if I am doing this correct, here is what I am doing:

Nvida control panel -> Display -> Resolution -> Customize... -> Checked - Enable resolutions not supported by the display -> Create Custom Resolution...
  • Horizontal pixels: 7680
  • Vertical: 4320
  • Refresh rate: 30
  • Color depth: 32
  • Scan type: Progressive
  • Timing : Automatic
Test failed - custom resolution of 7680 x 4320 (32-bit) not supported by your display.

Thanks for the assistance!

Thank you so much for that! That makes it easier to convince myself to get a new video card! :)

I'll wait for next gen Nvidia's to drop before I go that route though.

Thank you a sooo much, I really appreciate the help from you with this!
