It's not 2017 anymore. IPS is easily capable of response times that are good for 180+ Hz. The Acer Predator XB273U GX (which this monitor will likely be extremely close to in performance) averages 5.6ms
total response times according to
RTINGS. There are even faster IPS panels from LG.
The real scam is the $400 MSRP increase over the aforementioned GX for just +30Hz and +200 nits peak HDR brightness. Expect a slightly better but still disappointing HDR experience over the previous Nitro and Predator GX monitors. It doesn't even come with g-sync ultimate, so no variable overdrive. And lol if Acer locks the overdrive mode again with adaptive sync enabled, adding unnecessary amounts of inverse ghosting to 60 fps gameplay. $1100 for this is impossible to justify when 270Hz, 95% DCI-P3, HDR400 at 1440p already exists for $700 ($650 at B&H Photo currently).
