New AMD CPU problems

Hi,

I recently purchased a new AMD Processor (X4 880K) as an upgrade for my a8-6600K CPU.

Once I installed the new CPU today it hasn't quite been working...

First thing I noticed when booting into windows was that my screen resolution was messed up so I reset it in display settings (but it still was blurrier than normal)

couple minutes after I had reset the resolution, some pop-ups appeared. 1 stating "Radeon Settings: Host Application Has Stopped Working" (I believe Radeon was the onboard graphics with my a8-6600k processor..) I exited that alert, and another popped up "Failed to create OpenGL Context for format QSurfaceFormat Version2.0, Options QFalgs() etc..

Again, not really sure what that meant so I clicked out of it. I went to open a game (Flight Simulator X) to checkout frame rates but the game wouldn't open as it stated my graphics card didn't meet the minimum requirements. I went into dxdiag/system information and my GPU details were missing from both those windows while using the new CPU. I use a GTX EVGA 750TI graphics card. I left the computer be and when I got back I was left with a standard BSOD that didn't provide any details. I restarted the computer and got another BSOD shortly after it had started, this time with some more info ("BAD_POOL_CALLER")

I swapped back to my old CPU (A8-6600K) and my PC is running fine & my GPU is showing in dxdiag & system information! Any suggestions? Is my new CPU faulty? Its definitely compatible with my current FM2+ Motherboard. I'm new to this so please go easy!

Any help would be more than appreciated as i'm a bit stuck!

Thanks in advance,
Jack

Solution

Think I might have fixed this issue!

So, after installing the new CPU, I went to device manager, Found a device showing as "Unknown VGA" right clicked > Update drivers > Find drivers automatically > Windows found drivers and installed them. It found the drivers for my 750TI And asked me to restart the PC.

Once restarted, resolution was back to normal and GPU Was showing in System Information & Dxdiag under display!

So basically the new CPU kind of messed up the drivers for the graphics card but it seems to be fine now!

BSOD's haven't occurred as of yet, and hopefully they don't!

it was lookin for the old apu hd 7570d as video chipset so since the new x4 880 k dont have one it could not get video working but i would suggest you check this the old one was a amd gpu and now you use a nvidia one so go on nvidia for the latest driver dont use os update for this .
