Question New AMD Ryzen 3 5900X build

Feb 22, 2006
Thanks in advance to Tom's Forum experts on this new PC to be built for me by experienced local tech.

Approximate Purchase Date: Early 9/2021

Budget Range: Less than $2500

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Windows 11 capable general work use, including surfing plus chess gaming/deep calculation. Not a "gaming system" per se as graphics not important with high end cards out of reach.

Are you buying a monitor: No

Parts to Upgrade:
AMD Ryzen 9 5900X (Zen 3) Vermeer 12-Core 3.7 GHz Socket AM4 1; $550

AIO 360 cooler that fully covers the CPU IHS and need a recommendation. Unsystematic research points at
or Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 AIO $130

or NZXT Kraken X73 360mm - RL-KRX73-01 - AIO $170,aps,205&sr=8-1

X570 mobo: need recommendation, though I've done a fair bit of research (Tom's Best Picks; Amazon and Newegg reviews). Two Gigabyte boards stood out. It's not clear why one would pay $90 for the Ultra vs. the Elite.

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite Wifi $220

and Gigabyte X570 Aorus Ultra Motherboard $310 X570 Aorus Ultra Motherboard&cm_re=Gigabyte_X570 Aorus Ultra Motherboard-_-13-145-156-_-Product&quicklink=true

Power supply: How many watts?
From Tom's I picked out this one. XPG CORE Reactor 650Watt 80 Plus Gold Certified Fully Modular Power Supply $110
I've had bad experience with Corsair customer support.,aps,186&sr=8-1

System case for ATX. Do I need Full-Tower or Mid-Tower; Also with 360mm AIO cooler, how big a case is needed?
One idea: Phanteks Enthoo Pro II Full-Tower $160,aps,193&sr=8-1

2 X 500 GB NVMe PCIe internal drives. Looking at
SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2 2280 500GB PCIe Gen 3.0 x4, NVMe 1.3 V-NAND 2 X $89 = $178

RAM: 64 GB Patriot Viper Steel RGB DDR4 32GB (1 x 32GB) 3200MHz Module - PVSR432G320C8 $150
4 X $150 = $300,aps,191&sr=8-5

GPU: Need recommendation. Chess and general purpose build--not gaming system. Chess needs fast CPU. I will go with adequate video card for general use need recommendation. Current work system has Nvidia GeForce GTX650 Ti Boost, which is more than adequate. What about a used GPU? Under $200 if possible.
