Please keep it to 1 thread.
Hi,
My new build does not have any video.
It is an Asus B450M-All with latest bios updated today, running a AMD Ryzen5-5600G with 32 gig of memory consisting of Navtek 32GB (2X16) PC4-21300 Non-ECC UDIMM. New 500W Thermaltake PSU.
No ssd or drive plugged in just to see if it runs; which it doesn't seem to. Using the same monitor I have with the same cable that was working fine before the old one died.

The led's on the MB light up and when I push the start button the fans start but that is as far as it goes.
Checked all connections and reset. Checked the ram placement and it is in accordance with the manual.
Will pull the ram if that might help later tonight.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Tom

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

New 500W Thermaltake PSU.
Thermaltake is the brand of the PSU while 500W is the advertised wattage of the unit. What is the model of the unit?

Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

Try with one stick of ram populating slot A2 on the motherboard.

It is an Asus B450M-All with latest bios updated today
How did you update the BIOS on your motherboard? If you've verified that the BIOS was flashed successfully, then clear the CMOS. Do so by disconnecting from the wall and display, then remove the CMOS battery, press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds to drain any residual power. Replace the battery after 30mins.

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600G
CPU cooler: Came with chip
Motherboard: Asus B450M-All with PB450MA-2, dated 12/14/2023
Ram: NVTEK 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4-2666
SSD: Samsung 1Tb Not connected
GPU: None as am using Ryzen 5 5600G
PSU: ThermalTake Smart 500w New
Chassis: Asus: AP201
OS: windows 10 but no drive connected at this point
Monitor: Dell

Did remove the battery for 30 min and replaced. took out one ram board as requested, re updated the bios, still the same,,,,,no video at all.
going to use a different video connection when I get a borrowed DVI to DVI cord.
Tom

I have tried most everything but having no luck Used a new DVI to DVI cord and monitor said no signal from computer. The start button does activate the fans but that is as far as it goes.
Should I not be able to boot to the bios if there was some issue with the CPU.
I did power the MB with the cpu out in the beginning and same issue No signal.
Checked the voltage on the pins on the 8 pin power connector for the CPU and it was fine. Can't check the 24 pin jack as the PS needs to be activated and not sure how to do that.
I am toying on sending it back to Jeff and get a new MB. Don't really want to do that but I am getting to that point.
Any other suggestions greatly appreciated.

Tom

The only thing I can think of that might be the issue. After mounting the CPU and fan I had to remove both of them for an unrelated problem. When I went to replace the cpu there was a very small amount of thermal paste, a spec. on the socket. I used a small vacuum to try and remove it but some may have gotten into the socket. Is there a way to clean the socket? Could I spray some contact cleaner on it and gently blow dry it?
Again, thanks for any suggestions.
Tom

Added a speaker and am getting one long and two short beeps which ASUS says is an "Abnormally is detected in memory."
Switched to one card, no help switched that card with the other one and no help. Am I using the wrong memory?

I have no video on startup, fans run, board lights up, and I get 1 long and two short beeps which is a "memory anomaly" according to Asus.
Have tried all the memory card changing around as advocated here and nothing changes. Ilong and 2short and no video.
I don't know the boot sequence; is the memory one of the first things it looks for? Even with no memory will it at least go to the bios screen?
As I am using a "G" Ryzen I am wondering if perhaps something is wrong with the cpu or socket but the boot never gets to that point so no video.
Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated.

I have made some progress. I ordered new menory because I was getting a bad memory beep warning. It did work now at least I can get to the bios and indeed see it.
I was hoping to be able to use my previous SSD as it was working fine but the new build will not boot from it.
Not sure what to do next. I have a primary 1tb ssd and WD 1tb hard drive that was the backup. It will not boot from either drive although they are displayed in the bios and set up as #1 and #2.
The other curious thing is that the amber lights now slowly pulse on and off.

Not sure what you mean by what CPU I used to update the bios.
I used my laptop to to D/L it to a chip.

Without working RAM, BIOS will not post and show picture.
You may have to reinstall Windows but first make sure those you already have on disk is installed in same mode, CSM or UEFI. If it was installed in CSM/Legacy mode it will not BOOT if your BIOS is in UEFI mode and disk MBR.

Thank you very much for the advice.
I did some reading and read through a bunch of stuff.
I had to change the Memory in order to get it to at least have video and boot to bios. Not sure why the new memory, I initially bought, didn't work in this mb. It is listed above, but the new ones did. G.SKILL AEGIS Series (Intel XMP) DDR4 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 3200MT/s CL16-18-18-38 1.35V Desktop Computer Memory UDIMM (F4-3200C16D-32GIS)
The SSD in the failed computer was installed about 3 years ago with help from a friend. I have no idea now whether it was CSM or UEFI. I would think it was UEFI. The problem is all I have now is a laptop and cannot read either drive with the ASUS mb.
I get the same screen I had with the old Dell computer. The only common component is the SSD. When testing the Dell we couldn't get to boot from a known good source so figured it was the MB. Thís led to the whole new build with MB, CPU, case, memory, and psu.
The screen in question says:
Recovery
Your device needs to be repaired
A device isn't connected or can't be accessed.
Error code: 0xc000000e

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Windows Error Code 0xc000000f is a common error that occurs when the Boot Configuration Data (BCD) file is missing or corrupted, preventing the system from booting properly.
You should try to reinstall Windows

The computer I am replacing is a now defunct Dell Inspiron. I believe the MB had failed as we were unable to get it to boot from a known good bootable thumb drive .
I need to recover my hard drive which was running windows 10 in the Dell; now in the new MB, as mentioned in my previous posts, it shows up in the bios but will not boot from it.
CountMike said I should reinstall windows. Dell has a recovery tool that I tried to D/L with the service tag but didn't work. Called Dell and was told that will only work on the vintage of windows that came with the machine which was windows 8. I had graded too 10 prior to the failure.
So where do I get a windows file to install so I can try and restore it from the current drive which is a 1tb Samsung ssd.

That "recovery" just replaces system files including drivers in Windows version it was formed from, not upgrades or even updates done since and only on that particular PC, in no way it would help on any other PC. So it's practically useless unless done in first few months on same PC.

You might as well use W11 as W10 will be obsolete/loose support in next year and half. License for W10 and 11 is same.

MS has a windows 10 recovery disk which I think I will try.
If that works I can update to W 11. I have it on my laptop and am not fond of the new interface. but it is the way to go I guess.

Well that didn't work. I downloaded the boot recovery disk to a thumb drive and started the process. It said to enter the MS code for my windows version which I don't know as both main and backup drives, although recognized on the bios will not boot. Clicked on the "I don't know it" button and it said "The upgrade option isn't available" I am not upgrading as I already have W 10 on the drives.
So, how should I proceed from here?
Thanks,
Tom

The problem is it won't boot from the MS recovery tool I downloaded.
It said "The upgrade option isn't available to you" I did not want an upgrade just a bootable thumb drive to try and restore my SSD,
I obviously am using the wrong tool.
