I bought a new laptop 3 days ago with windows 10 installed in it. But programs are running too slow. Even on start up or rebooting. Pretty sure it has no virus as it was brand new. Help me please!!

Solution
It is possible that the laptop could have simply be poorly designed by Asus or you simply have one that s bad. Below is a review of a HP Stream 11 laptop with the dual core Celeron N3050 with 2GB of RAM; which should be basically the same as your Asus laptop. However, it only has 32GB of eMMC (like a flash drive) storage instead of a 500GB hard drive.

Performance seems to be okay given the low cost of the laptop. No complaints about very long boot times and the reviewer even tested Minecraft and League of Legends on the HP Stream 11. He did not do any multitasking (loading more than 1 program) though which makes sense because it only has 2GB of RAM.

I am going to guess you do not have the version with the Core i7 CPU. So it either has the Celeron Dual-Core N3050 or N3150 CPU. There have been a few user reviews stating that it the laptop is a bit slow because of the low performance Celeron CPUs, but still good enough. However, if it took 3 minutes to boot up and 5 minutes for a program to launch, then I am sure they would have stated something worse than "good enough".

Also, 2GM of RAM is not a lot. So it is a combination of a low powered Celeron Dual Core CPU and 2GB of RAM that is the problem. 2GB of RAM is not a lot especially if you want more than one "large" program to be running at the same time. I recommend you return the laptop for a refund because it is too weak for what you want to do.

2GB of RAM is not a lot. All the hardware on the laptop a bit of RAM so that Windows can access them, Windows 10 itself need RAM it will probably use about 1GB if the laptop only has 2GB of total RAM. You are left with less than 1GB of RAM for programs and the Intel HD graphics core which is not a lot so I really do not recommend have more than 1 program opened at a time. For example, I am using Firefox with 3 tabs opened to surf the web. According to Task Manager, Firefox is using 700MB of RAM.

I recommend you buy a laptop with at least 4GB and if possible a Core i3 CPU like the i3-6100u or i3-7100u. Of course that will make the laptop more expensive to buy. But at least with that you will definitely have better performance and be able to have more than 1 program running at the same time.

How to speed up your windows 10 operating system so it can run extremely fast!
Free up disk space
If your computer hard drive is nearly full, you may notice each task you perform getting slower, because it has fewer resources to draw on. Windows 10 has a really effective built-in application that lets you easily clear out that drive. Click the start menu button, scroll down the list until you find Windows Administrative Tools, and select Disk Cleanup. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove unwanted files, giving you more room instantly.
Uninstall apps you don’t use anymore
Think of this as going through your closet: if you haven’t worn it in a year, get rid of it. In Windows 10, start by opening Control Panel, then find Programs and select Uninstall a program. This can make a big difference to the speed of your PC, as those programs include sometimes quite taxing background processes, autostart entries, and system services. Uninstalling dormant apps will also improve system security. For instance, apps such as Java, whose older versions are known to have security risks, may not only use system resources, but leave open ways in for hackers.
Remove apps that take up too many resources
Your computer may be slowing down because an app or series of apps are taking up more than a reasonable share of resources. For example, an app could be experiencing a memory leak and taking up a large chunk of memory, which can noticeably slow you down with poor computer performance.
To discover which apps are the potential troublemakers, open Task Manager. Click the CPU, Memory, and Disk headers to sort the list by resources used, so the hungriest applications float to the top. If any app is using an undue amount of system resources, you can close it. And if it won’t close on its own, select it, then click End Task to force it to close.
You can also prevent those applications from launching automatically when you start up. Click Startup and disable the applications you don’t need to have at your fingertips every single time you log on. Windows helpfully tells you which applications slow down your start-up process most, so you can choose wisely.
Make sure your antivirus isn’t dragging your system down
How much impact on system performance does your antivirus programs have? As I mentioned earlier, you want to avoid apps that take too much control of your computer’s resources, thereby slowing your machine down.
Unfortunately, the Windows 10 default security software can significantly affect performance, compared to the free or premium offerings from security companies. I would recommend Avast as it is free and lightweight on the system.(Not in affilation)
When Windows 10 launches, Windows Defender automatically turns on when either an incompatible antivirus program or no antivirus at all is detected. Windows also urges users to uninstall their active antivirus to activate Windows Defender, instead.
But be wary of the security instructions you may be getting from your computer’s operating system. While these suggestions may seem more convenient at the time, you may be setting yourself up for weaker protection. And downloading third-party security software doesn’t actually take that much time, and can result in giving you not only better protection, but better performance. You really have a lot of other great choices available, and it’s in your best interest to look into them.
You should:
Check how well the antivirus software that you are in interested, in scored in tests by organizations like AV-Test and AV-Comparatives.
Understand the features offered and included in the product.
Compare prices.
Reset your computer
If my first 4 tips don’t make you feel like your computer’s its old, speedy self, you should reset Windows. Newer versions of Windows, such as Windows 10, make it very easy to do this and breathe new life back into your computer.
To reset Windows, simply type Reset your PC into the Windows search box. This feature is built in and is similar to reinstalling Windows. It will wipe your installed programs and system settings but keep your files in place. (Ensure you select the correct option: Keep my files.)
These are the top 5 tactics I use (repeatedly, as needed!) to keep my Windows 10 computer performing at its best

The final step would be to buy extra RAM
If the steps provided did not make a huge differnce to your overall preformance then i would suggest that you buy extra ram for your laptop or desktop. This will make your pc run smoothly becuase the more the ram the less lag and the more speed.
You can find RAM on amazon for next to nothing.

Me too. I think is the Asus Cloud Storage so I unistalled it and now things are much faster. I used the windows Performance Recorder did some stuff that is slow browse, FileOpen from an application, then save. Then open in the d the Windows Performance Analyser. For me the main culprit was Asus Cloud Storage. maybe it can be configured but I removed it and a few other items that showed up. Hope this helps.

I just purchased Asus X540U - i7 Core Win10. Upon turning ON, it took 5mins or more before everything else works. Where can I see ASUS CLOUD STORAGE? Is it the same with the Microsoft One Drive? I haven't set it up though. Also, battery only lasts up to 2 hours. When the manual mentioned should work 5hrs. LOL

Mine too i am experiencing such my laptop model is Asus Vivobook X540UP. The specs of my laptop is

i7 7th Gen
1 TB HDD
4 GB RAM
2 GB ATI Radeon Video Card

I also check task manager and check disk is always 100% in usage

Remove McAfee preinstalled from ASUS. Still same problem occurs

Try disabling auto update for windows apps in the store. This can help. Also disable manufacturer updates as well. Uninstall asus install. Switch to a local account as I have found that helps. Asus cloud storage is not the same as onedrive. It should be in the control panel. You can also try and remove some of the preinstalled bloatware that asus puts on.

I too am experiencing this with an Asus gaming zx553vd-dm969t. It’s TrueType bizarre.

I’ve also deleted some bloatware but can’t help thinking I’m missing something here. Is this usual for Asus laptops?

I have an asus Q534ux with the same issues. It boots fine, but the laptop is very slow and often lags. The system has i7 7500u, windows 10, 16gb ram, 512gb SSD, 2TB HDD, Nvidia 950m and intel onboard chipset. This laptop is brand new. I uninstalled a lot of bloatware. I only installed 3 programs on it so far.

that's the win10 cousing the problems. do atl-ctrl-del go to services tab, then down to the open services tab and press on it. look for windows update, right click, properties and change to manuel. do the same for "widows modules installer" then close and restart.
wait for a few minutes for the computer to stable down and you will see the difference

Me too I just purchased asus X54OU- i7 on last october 1 and we have the same problem took too long to turn it on and very slow running til now also the battery life only 2 hrs. Btw, wht did u do to solve it?

If you are still experiencing this problem even after a year of reinstalling windows and bloatware, I would talk with an Asus representative and see if they can help. If they say that you need to return the device, I would do it assuming it is still under warranty. If it is not then try doing a clean install which only put the basic things from microsoft and uninstall anything you dont need. Then use the machine without wifi to see if the problem occurs. Make sure that there is no update to any of the software. This will tell you if it is windows 10 messing up your system or if you have got a bad unit from Asus.

Let me know if this helps.
