New Asus P8Z77-V PRO Motherboard will cause black screen when I log in, after I update drivers from disk.

I recently installed a new Asus P8Z77-V PRO motherboard. It ran fine for about 2 weeks, but randomly my hard drive locked me out (not sure how that happened but I'm not worried about that because I just replaced it) so I re-installed windows 8 and everything went fine. However now whenever I try to update the motherboard drivers using the provided disk, the system will reboot twice. The first time like normal, but on the second reboot, I can get as far as to log into my windows account, but after I enter my password my screen goes completely black. It let's me see my mouse and i can move it on the screen, but even when I click where tiles should, be nothing happens. So I end up having to restore my hard drive. Computer specs in-case relevant: Windows 8.0 OS, (2x) 8GB G.Skill Sniper's, 120GB Samsung SSD, Intel I5-3330 chip, 1000W Rosewill Lightning PSU.

The drivers from the CD might be outdated and it can cause incompatibility with the recents drivers of Windows 8.
What parts from the motherboard are you trying to update? The audio card, chipset, ports?
