I ran a benchmark from PassMark on this F505ZA laptop and the Memory Mark score was 1669. It has 16 gigs of DDR4 2400 memory. The same Memory Mark on my old 7 year old laptop with DDR3 PC-12800 scores 2137. How can the new laptop be so slow? It is noticeably slower in loading software and in booting. It has a clean install of Windows 10 on it.

Loading software slowly is most likely a problem of a slow HDD.

Is the new RAM running in dual channel or a single channel ?

What´s the old laptop brand and model?

A BIOS update could help.

Check the RAM with memtest.org usb autoinstaller bootable

Thank you for your suggestions!

The laptop had an SSD (M.2 sata) that was benchmarking as it should (around 500 read / 430 write).

CPU-Z showed the RAM running in dual-channel mode and I can't remember the speed, but it was correct per specs.

The old laptop is HP dv7-7243cl from 2012.

BIOS was updated.

I have sent the laptop back, so no memtest.

The overall passmark score was 2946 whereas my old laptop scored 2331. The higher overall score was because of the 3d graphics score. But that doesn't help in boot speed or normal tasks where this laptop is significantly slower.
