Question New B550-PLUS AC-HES: HDMI port does not work?

I have a newly installed B550 MB and the HDMI port on the MB is not sending a signal to my "Smart' TV (older TV - 5+ years). So I ordered a Display port adapter to convert the signal to HDMI signal. Is this a waste of money, will this adapter work for HDMI? Thanks, Glenn

Unless your CPU is a "G" SKU it doesn't have integrated graphics (like most AM4).

So my 12 year old ASUS MB with a AMD Athlon II X2 processor that fully supported graphics including HDMI was much better then my new AMD Ryzen 5 5500 - unreal. Stupid me - who would of thought a 12 year newer processor would not support HDMI.

Can you recommend a cheap HDMI graphics card for my MB.

Not at all. But your old Athlon did have integrated graphics which AM4 has mostly not had. Really comes down to the details in a situation like this.

Too many options to list where requirements and budget are not a known quantity.

I need to be more detailed. I do have a EVGA GeForce 8400GS Direct x 10 DDR3 PCI express card. HDMI worked on my old MB with this card, but not with my new MB and AMD 5000 processor? So my new AMD 5000 process or will not run HDMI with this old graphics card.

In the first scenario it was assumed you were talking about plugging into the motherboard HDMI output.
In the case that you use the 8400GS, you are plugging directly into it? Adapter?

The 8400GS appears to have reached EOL in April 2014 so this could be a driver issue. Admittedly, I would consider others advice on that aspect.

Thank you - yes it is an old card, it could be the driver - I will try and find and updated driver.

OK, the 8400GS driver is the latest - no signal to the TV using HDMI or Display from the MB ports. The 12 year old card worked great on HDMI and my TV and a 12 year old AMD Athlon processor. Then my PC got fried by lightning and I had to replace the MB and processor. New MB Port Display adapter to HDMI cable also did not work - no indicated signal to TV? TV works on HDMI with another laptop - and the laptop is about 15 years old. So 12 years later, I can not use HDMI on my new ASUS B550 MD and new AMD processor. This is just crazy.

Is there any way to use HDMI from this MB and processor? What happened to technically advancement over 12 years?

Will this graphics card - Gigabyte 2GB Ram DDR3 SDRAM video card GV-N710D3-2GL rev 2.0 give me HDMI output with the above MB and ADM 5 processor.
