Hi everyone,
I was recently having trouble with my HDD which led me to suspect it was failing. Windows 10 is installed on a separate SSD. I moved most of my files from the HDD over to the SDD (by doing a cut and paste - it was mostly gaming files and a few programs). I purchased and installed a new HDD, but when I went to start the computer, I got the message "Reboot and select proper Boot Device". I went into the BIOS to make sure the computer was using the SSD to boot (it was). What could be going wrong? Is there some hidden Windows boot file that got installed on my old HDD? If I reinstall the old (failing) HDD, the computer boots fine. That's great, but it doesn't help fix my original problem of an HDD that will eventually fail.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
SSD is a Samsung
Old HDD is a WD 1TB Blue
New HDD is a WD 1TB Black
