Question New board problems

So I recently switched from a z170 to a the msi 390 a-pro with a i5-9600k. I’ve built plenty of computers and this is the only time I’ve ever had an issue. Not sure what’s wrong but the cpu and dram light on the motherboard alternate. The cpu lights on for 1 second and the dram for about 3 and alternate. I have a hyper 212 cooler which I’ve heard about causing shorts in these boards. The computer will turn on it just won’t display to the monitor and the keyboard and mouse will not light up. Tomorrow I’m gonna try and boot it up outside of the case to rule out a short but if that works or doesn’t work would I have to rma both to the retailer? Thanks.

Try removing the CPU and posting here a picture of the CPU socket.

Check the pins in the red area

If ok, then insert single RAM. Test each slot on the board.

Tested each slot one at a time. Still same result

It could be the board, then, if RAMs compatible and working.
