Im making a budget friendly build

i5 4460
Asrock b85m pro 3
Team Elite Dark OC 8gb ram single stick
Sapphire R9 280x 3gb vram
Sharkoon VS4-W atx
seasonic M12II 520w

will these work properly?

Yeah they should work fine. I'd opt for a Dual Channel RAM setup instead of the single RAM stick option.

You could also go with an i3 w/bigger GPU, if gaming is your priority.

I currently have an i3 4170 and already own the R9 280x

ill buy another 8gb stick this year for a dual 16gb

Oh okay that sounds good. How do you like the i3 4170? The i5 4460 upgrade isn't going to make gaming any faster, but it will give you some encoding and other tasks a bit more performance (depending on what your doing with the system).
