This is Canadian pricing so it will seem a bit high by your standards. I will be buying this week from infonec.com. My computer will be used mainly for gaming, internet surfing, but nothing too trivial. Also, I don't need it to run the latest games at full specs, just something that I could play Sims 3 and some oldies too like Battlefield 2 and such. However, how future proof is this? I am re-using a OCZ GameXStream 600 watt power supply and I do not need a keyboard, speakers, mouse, or monitor.

The build looks good, except I wouldn't go with that HDD. WD6401AALS is probably the best option there.

On the stock cooler you can get to about 3.2ghz or so without getting too high temps, but any higher than that and you will want an aftermarket cooler.

So I just found out that motherboard doesn't support Raid, so therefore, what do you guys think of swapping out the two hard drives for just one of the WD's recommended earlier?

I also have an old st3320620as (Seagate 320gb 7200.10) in my old system. Would putting this in my new system for just storage slow down my system?

That second build is much better than the first. The old hard drive will not slow down your computer as long as you aren't trying to read/write something from it.
