New Build, £1500~ Budget. No Idea What I'm Doing

I'm looking to build a PC which will take everything it thrown at it, especially being able to record using fraps whilst playing some of the most intensive games available.

I've been told a dedicated second HD would be preferable for the recordings, along with a nvidia card for CS5 editing but i'm really none the wiser.

I've been trying to figure this out myself on a site called PCspeciaist.com which has a huge array of components and did a great job on a previous laptop build, here's what i have so far:

well... i'd get a video capture card. you'll take a hit in performance while gaming and recording without one... and if you don't plan to use one, you might actually be better off with an AMD (that controversial vid by "teksyndicate" which showed an FX8350 beating anything intel had, was done while streaming video... a specific test to say the least)

Setting that aside, spend some cash on a video capture card. you'll not regret it. Scale back that 680 to a 670... the 670 is about as good (within 5%) and hundreds less. or get a 7950/7970... both overclock way better then the nvidia, and outperform them as well.

SSD 😀 64gb will be bearable for a boot drive, 128 for os partition & high priority programs + some games, 256gb or more if you're gonna be doing alot of work using cs5 on it.

SSDs are about 50 times faster. They're so fast you'll actually be able to use most of your CPU power. Standard HDs are so slow, they're the biggest bottleneck in most systems.

SSD are much faster it can boot up windows in less then 10 seconds with a regular HDD it takes around 20-30. I have a 64GB SSD in mine cause I only play one game majority of the 10 and its an MMO which makes load times so much faster its like they arent even happening.

I'd go with a 7970 as well over a 680, I would up the PSU to a 750W so that you can CF down the road.

You should build this Rig yourself dont buy from a company you will save some money and be able to put it towards better items
