Hello everyone,

I am gonna get a new pc after around 7 years more or less, so after searching (and searching and searching....o_O) I cannot finish my build. I have a budget of around 1200 without taxes, I will import most of it to my country and the economic isn't exactly helping, but forecast doesn't look any better so I will buy now. Normally I will change my pc after many years, with this one I do not think it will be that long again.

EDIT: The 1200 USD is without monitor, that money just for the tower.

If I need more coolers I will buy it like in 6 more months or less if I get discounts when buying this pc. This is some of the components that I will get but I'm still unsure of the rest.

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 3.6hz
SSD: Corsair MP510 NVME M.2-2280 480p
HDD: WD Blue 2TB 7200 rpm (that will be local buy since it cost me the same as buying a 1tb and import it)
PSU: Corsair RM 850X 80 Plus Gold Certificate (For some weird weird reason it cost me less than import a RM 750 or buying a local RM750 or some 650....)
If you have any suggestion for this part please let me know

These are the ones I'm struggling with

GPU: Gigabyte/Sapphire RX 5700 XT (419USD) or Asus/gigabyte/MSI RTX 2060 Super
In this case I don't know if the RTX will be worth it since it can have big drops in FPS from what I research when active and probably my CPU isn't gonna help much with that.

RAM: G.Skill Trident Z 16GB or Corsair Vengeance 16GB both 3200hz CL16
I saw a some 3600hz but are CL18, I don't know if its worth to get those 400hz and lose 2 C.

Case: Thermaltake V200 or Cooler Master MasterBox K500I or Redragon GC-601 Sideswipe or Iceberg Turbo Z8
All of these have the same price, just difference in number of coolers that have from fabric.

Monitor: This is just one doubt, I can buy a 1440p 144hz under 250 USD but it will be led or should I better search for a 1080p IPS? I will prefer something like 24"-27"

MotherBoard: Here is my real struggle, since I'm getting the board from abroad so I cannot ask to get a BIOS update for a B450 but probably can do it with some instructions I think so. But I was thinking if I should get a X570 like a Gigabyte Aorus Elite, X570 Asus TUF Plus or a B450 Tomahawk MAX or if you have any other recommendation in this part.

If you have any other recommendation I did not considered please tell me to research and take it into account. Thank you to all that can help me made this final decision.

True latency is determined as follows:

1 / Frequency (not DDR) x Latency = True Latency (nanoseconds).

Stock 3200 @ 14 is faster than Stock 3600 @ 16:

1 / 1.600GHz x 14 = 8.75nS
1 / 1.800GHz x 16 = 8.89nS

So in reality, whether using 3200mhz CL16 or 3600mhz CL18, you have the same true latency. Neither is actually faster than the other. 3200mhz CL14 (8.75nS) sticks, would be faster than 3600mhz CL18 or even CL16 (8.8nS) sticks though. Therefore, 3600mhz CL16 sticks are faster than the 3200mhz CL16 sticks.

It's quibbling really, because the difference from the latency penalty is so minor in these cases that you'd never notice the difference anyhow except on synthetic benchmarks.

As far as the monitor goes, it really depends on EXACTLY what it will be used for, as to what you need. Is it JUST gaming, or do you need to be able to do very accurate color profile professional graphics? Do you tend to use the monitor in a very dark room or is it usually well lit?

I will use it for gaming, watch anime and thinks like that, nothing like professional design. Probably in the future I will use it for Big Data analytics and business intelligence but mostly for try and use the programs while studying. Normally my room it is well lit.

I probably made a mistake at the begining, I will used 1200 USD but that is without the monitor, the money for the monitor I have it apart. I think this give space for more improvements. Sorry for the mistake.

Do you think if I left it like this could last around 4-5 years? And thank you very much with all the help.

If you turn off mail in rebates in your PCPP settings, you'll find this build is over 1200 dollars. Being as the OP hails from a region other than the US, mail in rebates are probably not particularly useful to them plus their initial investment might be more than than can actually even pay for in the first place, considering there will be considerable shipping costs and possible also import duties involved. Also, the Focus G case is going to require a further investment in additional case fans, because what it comes with is not going to be sufficient for the build.

Taking into account your recommendations and also include more space since I need it. Other option will be get a NVME M.2 of 1GB only but well, just gonna keep thinking about those.

At the moment I lock the RAM, Case and PSU. I don't think 50 dollars for a 3600X is worth it, I will better think to get a CPU Cooler as suggested by @logainofhades

In the mobo I'm going for the B450 Tomahawk MAX, but there is a Asus Prime-P x570 just $30 more expensive, is it worth it or with the Tomahawk can get enought for a couple of years?

In the GPU, why will you considered a 2070S over the 5700XT with the price difference? I just want to have the arguments so I won't have doubt about it. At the moment the 2070S looks really good I cannot not deny it.

Either of them are fine for 1440p. If you like the 5700XT better, then go with that, especially if you can get a good non-reference, non-blower style card for reasonably less than the 2070 Super. I like Nvidia driver support better and they run cooler on less power than the XT cards. Both are fine though for 1440p or 1080p.

I don't believe there is any benefit to an X570 motherboard over B450 or X470. There are no graphics cards that can saturate the PCI 3.0 bus as it is, much less USE the additional from the PCI 4.0 bus. And reviews seem to suggest there is little practical difference in performance between using a PCIe 4 M.2 NVME drive on X570 or on an older chipset, so honestly, I can't see any reason for it unless you simply like to have another fan to have to look at, and listen to.

3600 is fine. Plenty for this type of configuration. I actually didn't mean for that to end up in the final build anyhow.

As far as Max vs standard Tomahawk, the only difference I'm aware of, really, is the fact that the max already has a bios version that supports Zen2 processors and the standard version needs to be updated first, which is not a problem since it has bios flashback. If you want to spend a few bucks more so you don't have to deal with a BIOS update, I see no reason against that, either way.

Thank you very much to all of you, I'm going to get the RTX since searching it will help with machine learning and deep learning and looks AMD isn't there yet on those. So double win, game and study 😀

Thank you very much for all your help, I just need to hunt some discounts now if possible and get a good monitor.

That price IS the really good discount. Normally that is a 599.00 monitor.

The other one, the 27", is pretty good too and it's an IPS panel, so color accuracy is much better than TN. The 32" one is VA, so good for gaming AND has good color.

You don't want that AOC. It has terrible ghosting problems.

Mmm I would then considered the LG that it looks like can get it a little cheaper in my own country. But do you have any other 1440p monitor that you can recommended apart from that one? or some that I should not get nearby as the AOC above.

For example what do you think of Samsung CJG50? it is not IPS but well.

I spend two weeks narrowing down my options before I bought that monitor. If there had been another 1440p monitor in a 27-32" size that was less expensive, that I thought wasn't going to to be a dud, I'd have bought it. I've looked at all of them. In this price range, they all have some kind of shortcoming in reviews. Ghosting, really bad viewing angles, don't work correctly with Gsync cards, something was wrong with all of them EXCEPT for that one, unless you wanted to spend about 150 bucks more. So I doubt there is anything at that price or less that compares. If there is, I couldn't find it.

According to the Rtings review, that Samsung CJG50 has lousy black uniformity, poor viewing angles, a terrible stand, no variable refresh rate via Gsync or Freesync (Deal breaker for any gamer) and overall probably is a poor choice compared to the LG panels.
