Hello!
I'm doing my first new build since 2011! Everything was going smoothly until I ran a stress test and saw the temperatures.
Build:
CPU: 13700KF
Cooler: NH-D15S (applied Arctic Silver 5)
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790 UD AX
Ram: GSkill Trident Z5 64 GB DDR5 6000 CL32
GPU: MSI 3060 Ventus 2x
SSD: 2TB 980 Pro
I updated the bios to the latest version. I set the bios to use the intel memory tuning thing to get the ram to 6000.
In Windows 11, I ran the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility, and rant he CPU stress test for 15 minutes. It takes about 5 minutes, but it eventually gets up to 100°C and I get the thermal throttling warnings.
Idle temp is 36°C.
The primary purpose of this build is to do some intensive data science work that'll be using all cores for prolonged periods of time. I thought I was getting a good cooler to allow for reasonable temps.
At a minimum I want to eliminate that thermal throttling. It'd be nice to get those temps down a lot. I know it's been a while but it used to be high load temps were 50°C.
Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks!
