I am looking to overclock the CPU up to at least the 3.6-3.8 range, also I will probably slightly OC any graphics card that I get.

Not really sure on this, trying to decide between a HD 4890, a GTX 275, or a GTX 285. Will the listed PSU have enough power for 2-card SLI/Crossfire of any of those? I have about $330 left over in the budget and I would like to be able to play at 1920x1200, high settings on most games. (ArmA 2 primarily)

i suggest getting Sapphire ATI Radeon HD4890 TOXIC 1GB DDR5 2DVI PCI-Express Video Card, Retailthis card is cheaper than newegg at ewiza with a difference 30$ and this is factory overclocked and it will be a better bang for buck than the gtx 275 and the gtx 285,if you wanna overclock urself and save the 20 more dollars then get SAPPHIRE 100269SR Radeon HD 4890 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Retail

the ati 4890 overclocked to 1000 MHZ performs as the gtx 275 and the gtx 275 is more expensive while the gtx 285 is out of your budget and IMO the ati 4890 will suit you,also the corsair 750TX is great and will allow you to sli gtx 275 or CF ati 4890 but if you are going gtx 285 and you want to sli i would suggest getting the corsair 850

BTW,it seems you have done your job carefully in choosing the parts and you have excellent parts.also the monitor is great
 
Looking at NewEgg, the 750TX is originally priced at $179.99 while the 850TX is originally priced at $159.99. Is there a reason for this counter-intuitive pricing?

Also, are there any benchmarks out there comparing the 4890 @ 1000MHz to a stock GTX 285? Is the OC'ed 4890 better for games?
 
Okay I'm about to buy. Here's an updated list of everything. Am I missing anything that I would need to build this rig?

Main use will be gaming, ArmA 2 primarily, which is a resource hog. Planning on running at 1920x1200 with med-high settings.

Should I get the Corsair RAM or the OCZ Platinum RAM? It's not that big of a price difference thanks to a huge combo deal on NewEgg.

 
You will need sata cables for the oem harddrive and optical drive but from the pictures your motherboard comes with 3, so you will be covered. As the ram goes, I would go with what ever is cheapest.

I recently purchased the 4890 toxic off of newegg, Mine can only achieve 980 core and 1115 memory with no artifacts in games / ati tool on the stock 1.4volts. 1.4375 volts is needed for 1ghz core to be stable with no artifacts.
 
What about a GTX 275? How do those compare to 4890s, OC wise?

If I switch to a EVGA GeForce GTX 275 896MB and drop down to a CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX, I'll save about $90, dropping the total to about $1410. Will a 750W supply have enough juice if I want to add another 275 in the future? Does overclocking require a bunch more power?

Edit: Also, do the fans on that HAF 932 case suck up a ton of power?
 


the gtx 275 and the 4890 run head to head when over clocked from the reviews. It's a toss of the coin.

In regards to "saving money" on your build and still obtaining a high over clock and having quality components....

Do a google on "ewiz coupons" and save anywhere from $5 - $15 on that mobo down below. Google it for reviews...it's a good one.

Okay got everything put together and it's all working. Should I update the BIOS and stuff or just leave it as it is? Oh also, should I plug in the extra 4-pin part of the 8-pin connector to the motherboard? Half of it was covered up when I installed my mobo.
