Been reading threads for the past month and I've decided it's time to finally build a new computer. Trying to build something with an easy upgrade path, will be over clockable, and can play in 1440p visuals.

Here's what I've come up with:

CPU
Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor
$359.99 Newegg

CPU Cooler
Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler
$88.49 Newegg

Motherboard
Asus MAXIMUS VIII HERO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
$202.98 Newegg

Memory
G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory
$69.99 Newegg

NZXT Phantom 410 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case
$88.99 SuperBiiz

Power Supply
SeaSonic X Series 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

$85.49 OutletPC

Monitor
Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q 144Hz 27.0" Monitor

I have no preference on the case other than making sure it's efficient for air flow and can hold all my parts efficiently.

Is the ripjaw speed a waste?

I'm debating holding on to my old 660TI till the new cards are released or should I just buy the 980TI now?

If I buy the 980TI, is that the best value version?

I'm not sure if that's the best monitor doe the price, but I'm looking for a 1440p 120hz monitor.

Any recommendations or changes would be appreciated.

Solution
The best value version is the G1 Gaming 980ti, as it has the best cooling, and one of the best performances.
The Asus card is very similar, but the cooler doesn't make direct contact with the chip, as is common on some Asus cards.
At this point however, i'd wait until June for Pascal to come out, going to be a 980ti replacement card which will run much faster, given that there will be more cuda cores, and that these will have a 33% faster speed per each core due to the faster process used. (16nm)

Solution
LGA 1151 mobos are rated for 1.5v RAM voltage, the reason you use DDR4 is that it is native to 2133Mhz and runs at a lower voltage of 1.35v, and DDR3 RAM is 1.65v, meaning that it damages the CPU in the long run.
The speed helps in multitasking stability regardless of the task, although rendering is a plus.

Appreciate the advice so far. Does everyone really think the new cards will be released in June?

If that's the case, it doesn't make sense to buy an existing card till the new ones come out.

I can use my existing 1080p monitor and 660TI till then and still build a solid computer.

Any other critiques/comments/improvements on the build?
