Hello everyone, I made a post about a new build about a month ago but my budget line has changed so I was looking for some new suggestions and possibly an even bigger beast to be built. It's been about five years since I built a computer so I'm quite rusty, but there are many tutorials, videos, and posts about building so I'm not too worried about brushing up on it.

On to the important things...

Things that I do:
Gaming
Recording
Editing
Rendering
Everyday browsing(FB, Twitter, YouTube, etc)

What I really want / need out of this new rig:

Graphics: I enjoy doing let's plays, and I want my computer to be able to handle some of the roughest games so I can give my viewers good quality and lagless footage. Not only for my viewers but also for when I play games just for myself.

Speed (Rendering): One of the things that currently slows me down the most is rendering time. I can can record a video in 15min and have the rendering time be 25min+. It adds up when I have 5+ videos to render for a series. So, I'm looking for something that can really shred some renders. I also plan on using my current desktop (which I will post the specs to that below) to help me render. Although I'm not sure exactly how to do that, but I'm sure I can find posts or a video on how to make a small render farm.

Storage Space: I download lot's of games for let's plays and I also need space for all of my video files from when I record. Depending on how long the series are I can be using up to 200+gb for game files(video, webcam, audio, rendered video) in a series. Currently I move the files to an external when I finish the series; although, I would like to be able to hold more of the files on my computer so I can use the clips in other videos (or so my external doesn't get full right away). Any suggestions or tips on video storage would also be appreciated.

Other items:
Good Sound Card
Adequate RAM
Dual Monitor Support* (Important)

Here are the specs to my current computer (Built in 2010)

For the new computer:
Approximate Purchase Date: Near the end of July / August
Approximate Budget: $800-1200

Thank you all!!

Ah... right. I should have thought about that. Parts and prices are always changing. I'll save this post for when it's closer to time then I suppose. Unless there are things that I can get that might not change for a while.

Thank you.

As RCF has pointed out, wait for the CPUS and new GPUS to come out, even if you're building with today's tech. It'll be a lot cheaper, meaning you'll be able to afford better components. Also If you end up going with a new CPU you'll have to find out what motherboard is compatible. Same then goes for Ram as DDR4's starting to come in, which makes it a bummer to plan this far in advance.

For rendering you're going to want the best CPU you can afford, as the CPU will be the bottleneck and depending on what program you're using to render you'll need at least 8-16gb (the more the better when it comes to heavy editing.) - I'm having the same problem with my FX6300 and am considering upgrading to the FX8350 for the time being as it takes so long.

Best of luck!

For youre budget at this time i would go with:
CPU: Xeon E3 1231 V3 or an i7 5820k if you really are annoyed by the rendering and you use the cpu for rendering in the first place
use an i5 4690k if you care about money and want overclocking if you dont want to overclock go for the Xeon

Graphics card: Radeon R9 390 or the gtx 970 if its noteable cheaper

storage: a Crucial BX100 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive for speed or Seagate ST1000DM003 for space and economy
