Just wondering what board to go with here, after reading a million reviews most agree the Asus Rog Strix x470-F is a solid board choice, wondering if there are other alternatives now with x570 out that i should reconsider? Is there a clear "winner" around this price range that is x570? Would like to stay around the same price range where possible, Thanks for any help!

The Asus Rog Strix x470-F is a very good motherboard BUT it doesn't have a Flashbackj feature so you will need an older AMD CPU to update the BIOS to a version that supports the 3000 series CPU's.

You can get a Short Term Processor Loan Boot Kit from AMD to do that:
https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa-100

OR Borrow or Buy an 1000 or 2000 series CPU to install to update the BIOS.

OR you can get one of the boards listed here that does support flashback so you won't need a CPU to update the BIOS:

Or wait and get an MSI MAX version motherboard which will be updated when you buy it, they should be available in a few weeks.

Thanks for that reply! that would have been quite a dissapointment upon arrival and set up to have no success! As i don't have access to a previous version am4 (im upgrading all the way from am3 FX 6300!), is there an x570 board in my range of ~250-300 cad that I should consider? The loaner boot kit seems quite the pain, as i'd have to wait even longer just to get going, and the boards that i'd consider in your list (Crosshairs are 100-200$ more then "mid-range" x570 boards =(

Just a quick edit: Now considering the Asus Crosshair VII Hero @ 340$ cad, is a x570 board around this price just the best option? i.e. Asus Prime x570-PRO?
