Hi everyone, I'm planning on building something in the next month or two. My concerns are whether or not its worth waiting for skylake since the only significant change is DDR4 support, and I'm not sure that will yield appreciable gains for games. I'd like to stay around the $650 neighborhood on parts. I'm curious if skylake will knock the prices down on some of the haswell parts. Below are the parts I've laid out-

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117302
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211861
MoBo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138395
GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150732
PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152049

Thanks!

that psu sucks. i have it and its no good, consider this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139050. also, consider getting a mobo form a reputable manufacturer, like asus, asrock, msi, gigabyte. also, what case and storage are you using?

Case is a DIYPC N8 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811353068) because it fits in the cubby of my desk and the HDD is a 1TB Barracuda

Build looks pretty good but make sure to get a better PSU. Most budget PSU's from coolermaster, evga and xfx will be good but for specific PSU's make sure to look at the PSU tier list or reviews to check if the PSU you like is any good.

I would also suggest trying to get a SSD either now or in the future, although you may not think it'll help much I can assure you it'll really make your system feel faster and snapier.

I swapped the PSU for a CX600. I want to try and hold out for Skylake and see if it is really leaps and bounds ahead of Haswell
