I'm sort of just now breaking into the whole "Build your own pc" thing, I'm reasonably intelligent when it comes to computers.. So i figure this is the next logical step in things.. Figured id throw my self on the professionals here on this site for some advice... Im currently running an HP machine with an athlon 7550 dual core, and an old geforce 9500 GT gfx card... so realistically.. Im willing to go for anything thats a reasonable upgrade from that...

Approximate Purchase Date: ASAP, but willing to wait if it means saving a little cash.

Budget Range: 600-700$ [Including a purchase of Windows 7 64 ]

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming , Movies, Browsing the interwebz..

Parts Not Required: Mouse, Keyboard, Monitor

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: No preference...

Country: USA

Parts Preferences:by brand or type No real preference but... I lean slightly more towards INTEL cpus, and nvidia graphics

Overclocking: Perhaps in the future, But not a MUST

SLI or Crossfire: No preference

Monitor Resolution: Currenly running a 22in LED, at 1600x900 (not running in hd)

Additional Comments: Im willing to skimp where possible... I don't need an amazing mind blowingly awesome case, Also willing to get OEM version of windows to pinch a few pennies... I also ask that its taken into account that this is in fact my FIRST BUILD... lol so please don't hate on me for my slight "noobish"ness... Thanks in advance for any help guys and gals!

Should run you about $600

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Quick edit about OEM:

- OEM versions do not offer any free Microsoft direct support from Microsoft support personnel

- OEM licenses are tied to the very first computer you install and activate it on

- OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

- OEM versions cannot be used to directly upgrade from an older Windows operating system

One thing to take into account is that Newegg and some of the other online e-tailors have good sales at the fourth of July. So while there will be someitems that are listed now with good prices because of regular sales or rebates if something does not then it would be good to wait till next week and see what happens.

The total for this build comes in at $878.91 and while it's over your budget you may be able to pick up some sales at the July 4 sales or from other places that may have some of these items cheaper. The list does not contain any outrageous highend components and they are actually mid range but with some good quality. It's not easy to get a good decent performing computer that will last for a few years and be around $600 to $700. You'll have to make some serious cuts and sacrafice performance.

you need a quad core if you are going to play BF3 on the large 64 Mulitplayer maps. you should be able to play with everything on high as long as you keep antialiasing and anisotropic filtering low
