Hello there :)

I'm currently searching for components for a new build. I have read the sticky however i don't feel some of the questions are relevant since i have already chosen my components, i am just here for a little further advice and direction please for the places where i may have gone wrong, e.g. compatibility issues/missing stuff.

Ok so a bit of background info...I'm 24 and havnt done a build before but i have replaced stuff in the past. I'm just wanting to build a new PC for gaming since i play a few games, and hopefully create a "bang-for-buck" rig that should last me some time because my current setup is becoming dated. I also would like my PC to be able to handle some 4k stuff with reasonable performance as i plan to buy a 4k monitor afterwards.

Here is the info:
Approximate Purchase Date: Progressive...Already bought the case and im guessing i can purchase the rest over the next few weeks

Budget Range: Since it is a progressive thing this isn't so relevant however a total build of around £2000 excluding peripherals is the general aim

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming -> Media -> Internet surfing -> Office etc.

Are you buying a monitor: Yes - A Samsung U28D590D after it is all complete

Parts to Upgrade: (e.g.: CPU, mobo, RAM) **Include Power Supply Make & Model If Re-using**

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Location: Nottinghamshire, UK

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: Yes - Eventually

Your Monitor Resolution: 3840 x 2160 (Samsung U28D590D)

Here is the parts list, ill put it in quotations just to separate it slightly from the main body:

Please could somebody answer these questions too if possible :) ...

Is there any extras i may have missed to complete the job? Cables, screws, tools etc?(I have ordered an anti-static wristband)

Do you think the GTX 980's pricetag justifies the performance? And would it give me much more time in the future gaming years?

You seem to need a motherboard, or did I miss it? I would be sucking it up and starting with a GTX980ti if the final answer is 4K gaming some years in the future. I would not go with the GTX 980; it's not enough better than the 970, and it costs too much compared to the 980ti.

I would want at least 250Gb for my SSD, for OS and a couple of my current games. Bigger is also faster. I'm not sure that the 480Gb Hyper X SSD is worth the cost as an add-on.

I would rather go 'big air' for cooling.

Accessories. Motherboard speaker if your motherboard does not have one. Everything should come with your system, but you may need fan splitter cable(s) or a fan controller. I like magnetic tipped screwdrivers. It's like having an extra hand.

It appears i had messed up the copy + paste from my list haha, well spotted! The motherboard is the "MSI X99A Gaming 7" motherboard :)

I will have a look into the 980 Ti, it seems a lot more expensive but i guess it is a similar price to when i would eventually have the 2 cards running on SLi

I was trying to keep a separate drive for the OS, and then a larger SSD for my games + then just the 3.5" drive for storing all my crap on....and also the NZXT case comes with 2 SSD drive slots on show, which i thought would look nice when filled, i have also managed to find a source for the HyperX Savage range which i believe has higher speeds to the HyperX 3k series i had on the list before....is it also true that the motherboard will standardize the read/write speeds of the SSD's to the slowest one installed?

Thanks for the advice so far :)

The GTX 980ti is superior to SLI GTX970 and cheaper, and you can SLI it later :) Educate yourself about 4K performance to help you make informed decisions. I'm giving you the advice I'd follow myself.

I don't see the point of a small SSD for OS only. SSDs work with parallel access, so bigger is general faster.

I don't run more than one SSD, so I don't know about that, but I doubt it is true.
