New Build Advice

Hello, I've never built a PC before, though I have watched a load of videos and have informed myself of whatever there is to know about building one. I've spec-ed a PC and would like to know if everything will work alright. Take a look? Maybe some advice on better components?

What will you be using it for? 1080p gaming?

For a first build, that is an awesome budget and you are quite smart with your part selections. Good job. There are places you can save money depending on what you are doing.

All choices are solid but unless you are going to take advantage of the hyperthreading in the i7 then you may aswell go down to an i5.

@gilbadon I'm planning on 1440p gaming and content consumption in general, what suggestions do you have in mind?
@Gracodana I want it to be futureproof. I'm only 15 and have saved up a long time for this.

I would go for a i5 4690k if you're planning on just gaming and put the money you save towards 2x 970s for 1440p

1440p, keep with the 980. If you do want to save money though, and i5 is future proof as well. Unless you are compiling large code base's or decoding/encoding large volumes, an i7's bonuses will not be at all apparent. An i5 can easily be overclocked to faster than an i7 anyway. It sounds like you want it though and at the end of the day, you need to make yourself happy and not regret your build.

I would say keep it how it is and good luck =)
