Hi all,

So I'm looking to build a gaming PC and have tirelessly tried to educate myself from lots of different sources about components.

Please check over my selection and provide feedback regarding my logic (y)

Just a quicks heads up, my gaming repertoire Is focused around DCS, flight sims, FPS at 1440p . I'll be looking at getting a 28 inch > curved screen in the future.

PCPartPicker Part List: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/h9XjBj

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor (£182.99 @ Amazon UK) - All what I read, AMD seem to be advancing further than Intel

CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock 4 CPU Cooler (£55.50 @ Technextday) - Picked on the back of a selection of reviews

Motherboard: Gigabyte X570S UD ATX AM4 Motherboard (£117.99 @ Technextday) - Picked on the back of a selection of reviews, also learnt about compatibility

Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory (£98.99 @ Box Limited) - The rumor mill of the DCS crowd advising about 32GB

Storage: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive (£62.99 @ Amazon UK) - Read up and advised M,2 Is quicker - This will be for OS etc

Storage: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive (£99.00 @ Amazon UK) Read up and advised M,2 Is quicker - Dedicated to games storage

Video Card: MSI GeForce RTX 3080 10GB LHR 10 GB GAMING Z TRIO Video Card (£802.39 @ Amazon UK) - Seems a good choice for my budget

Case: be quiet! Pure Base 500 ATX Mid Tower Case (£78.54 @ Technextday) - Reasonable case with good review, offering good airflow

Power Supply: Corsair RM850x 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (£150.98 @ SmartTeck.co.uk) - unsure about this? Came from reviews this would suit?

Total: £1649.37

Please high light any areas I may have overspent/overkilled in any area of the build or where I could save?. As I mentioned I'm interest In computers and and want to learn along the way.

Thanks for your time 🆒

Thanks Eximo.

Any other feedback on suggested build please?

Thanks
Eximo has a solid build but I'd change the motherboard to this MSI seeing how it has better VRM's than that Gigabyte board he posted.

Just get a single 2TB SSD. Don't want to waste one of your slots when you need more storage in the future.

Ryzen 5600X is alright, but not ideal for some of your game choices. I would say look at something like the Intel i7-12700 or, if you want to stick with AMD, the 5700X. Those extra cores will come in handy in your flight sims.

Also the 3080 12GB is a little cheaper at the moment.

Thank you all for the previous replies, I do thank you.

So I have revised the components, after the advice I was given and have posted this below.

I'm looking to make my purchase, so can somebody please look this over for me and confirm all Is ok, as It took me a looong time to save for a new system and don't want to make a mistake.

I changed the case, would this be ok for good airflow etc.?

Also I'm not sure about thermal paste, like which one etc...

Opinion.

If the budget allows go for the 12700.

You'll thank yourself for having the igp if in the future things go wacky.

Everything looks good other than that Antec case which has horrible airflow. Find a case with a mesh front panel and top venting.

Thanks Why,

Would you think my original choice of the be quiet mid 500 case would be better?
That case doesn't have good airflow either. This case has a mesh front panel and comes with a built in fan speed controller which is nice if you want to cut down on noise.

Phanteks Eclipse P400 Air Tempered Glass Mid Tower Case £74.99

This cpu cooler will fit inside that case.

Scythe Fuma 2 Rev.B CPU Cooler £54.95

And a 4-Pin PWM rear exhaust fan so that case doesn't become a hotbox.
